When someone is being unrealistic, in English we describe his/her hope or project as “Pie in the sky”. In Spanish the equivalent is “castles in the air” as in “castillos en el aire”. An unrealistic promise is “to promise the stars and the sky”. In Spanish one would promise the moon: “Es como prometer la luna”.
