“Luchar hasta quemar el ultimo cartucho” literally translates to “to fight until firing the last cartridge”. In English we’d say “to fight until the bitter end”.
Here are two sayings that are similar, but just a little bit different in English and Spanish. In English our stomachs “rumble”. In Spanish they bark, as in “Me ladra el estomago”. When we have a confrontation with someone we are said “To cross swords”. In Spanish we would “measure lances” as in “Medir lanzas con alguien”.
